Friends

Who are the Friends?

The Friends is a group of volunteers who give their time and financial support to the library. The Friends support is essential for many aspects of the library's programs and services. They give financial support to the library from their membership dues. They financially support the magazine, video, and CD collections. They support the computers, copier, and fax machine. Most of the children's programs at SMCL are funded by the Friends. Without the Friends, the responsibility of supporting these important collections and services would fall on the library budget. Thank you, Friends!

The Friends of the library numbered 383 in 1997 and contributed over $10,000.00 to the support of the library.

Some Friends Membership Benefits:

  • fax machine usage for $1 per page

  • usage of Friends copier for ten cents per copy

  • exemption from postage charges at the circulation desk

  • one of your fines forgiven during the membership year

  • get to be a part of the library support for computers, videos, magazines, programs, and much more!
